For the Kids of Kathmandu
Hello Donor,
My name is Aum Gandhi. I am a Merrell Ultra endurance athlete. To give you a background, I have been running since Spring of 2018. I have completed 17 official Ultramarathons, including three 100-mile finishes, one 200-mile finish, and a 3-day race finish of 170 Miles. I have put myself in the gauntlet of extreme environments with races such as the Zion 100, Moab 240, and the Jungle Ultra. My motivation has always been to test my personal limitations, inspire those around me, and give back to the community.
This time around, I am putting myself up against the highest race on Earth with the Everest Ultra, a 70 KM footrace that starts at Everest Base Camp and will take me all the way down to Namche Bazaar. I will out there for over 12+ hours running at 50% of the oxygen at sea level. This is suffering that i chose to test my limits, but it doesn't hold up against the lessons that life will teach us. As someone who comes from a immigrant working-class family that had to earn everything against the odds, I have seen and lived the importance of opportunity for children. Kids of Kathmandu is helping the kids of marginalized communities in Nepal get a opportunities and a fair shot. These kids will happily live their lives with a smile regardless of their standing, but they deserve to see that there is a big world of opportunity out there for them.
Let's make that happen. Talking to the executive director has allowed me to find out that this funding will find its way to providing more educational opportunities to kids K-10 in these sustainable, 21st century schools Kids of Kathmandu is building. This is especially important for young females, who are one of the big target demographics.
I am just a conduit. I need your help to make this happen. Let's fail big and go for $10,000. Remember that every donation counts. Even if it's $1 or $100 or a share, please lend your hand. It only takes a minute of your time. Kids of Kathmandu is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, so be sure to save your receipt for next year's tax returns.
