These boys were separated from their parents 7 years ago. They were moved from their home in Humla, a remote part of Nepal 7 years ago during the Maoist insurgency to protect them from possibly being kidnapped/killed. They have not seen their parents or families since then and actually have no idea if they are even alive. (Getting to their home village would require a flight and then perhaps a 2 day walk).
The good news?? They are INCREDIBLE. They are smart, they are fun, funny, and so so kind. They live together...in a house that is so spotless by their own doing we were stunned. We couldn't imagine a small house of 8 teenage boys smelling so clean and looking so tidy! They cook for each other and they have become each other's family. One of them (Prakash) wants to study to become a pharmacist...then return to his village and take care of people there.
